Why a Windshield Replacement Is Never Just a Glass Swap
If your vehicle was built in the last decade, the windshield probably does more than keep wind and weather out of the cabin. Behind the glass sits a forward-facing camera and, on many models, emergency-braking sensors. Those components are calibrated to the exact position of the factory windshield. Remove that windshield and install a new one, and even a tiny shift in the camera's mounting angle can throw off your adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency braking. A replacement without recalibration is an incomplete job, and it is a safety issue — not just a convenience issue.
What ADAS Recalibration Actually Does
ADAS recalibration realigns the camera and sensors to the vehicle manufacturer's specifications so the safety systems read the road correctly again. It is a precision process that requires a level bay, manufacturer-specified targets, and the right diagnostic equipment. Depending on the vehicle, calibration is static (performed in our bay), dynamic (performed on a road drive), or both. Done correctly, it restores the accuracy your vehicle had when it left the factory. Skipped or done poorly, your car may brake late, misread lane lines, or fail to detect a vehicle ahead in time. We perform the recalibration in our dedicated calibration bay so the new glass and the safety systems are both dialed in before you drive away.
Insurance Claims and Glass Coverage
Windshield damage is a very common claim for Colorado drivers, and for good reason — winter gravel, mag chloride, and highway debris turn rock chips into a common occurrence on I-70, I-25, and US-6. We work with all major insurance companies and help handle the claim paperwork from start to finish, verifying your coverage to keep your out-of-pocket cost as low as possible. Bring your insurance card and we will walk you through the claim, the glass options, and the calibration your vehicle requires.
Rivian Owners: Certified Glass and Diagnostics
Rivian owners have a certified alternative to the service center right here in Wheat Ridge. We are a Rivian Certified Diagnostic & Glass Center, officially equipped to replace windshields, run glass diagnostics, and recalibrate ADAS to Rivian's exact factory specifications. If you drive a Rivian, you do not need to travel to a service center for this work.
